Travel & Logistics

We’re so excited to see you in Burgundy! As part of your travel planning, we recommend that you purchase travel insurance that covers your booking for unforeseen events and interruptions of your trip. We also suggest purchasing refundable fights or flight protection.

Arrival in Beaune

Be sure to set your clocks—in Paris and Beaune, you’re on Central European Time (CET), which for most of the year is +9 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time (PST) and +1 hour ahead of GMT / UTC.

Trip Start

We meet in the lobby of Hôtel Le Cep (27 Rue Maufoux, 21206 Beaune) at 9:00am on Saturday, June 11, 2022. This is where our Modern Adventure trip leader, the other guests and Stoller's Kate Payne-Brown will meet before departing on our first activity together.

Arrival Airport

We recommend flying in and out of the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). There are direct daily flights to Paris CDG airport from most major American and European hubs, including New York (7hr), Los Angeles (10hr, 30min), Seattle (9hr, 45min), Salt Lake City (10hr, 20min), Chicago (8hr, 25min).

Plan your arrival flight appropriately as you will need to allow enough time to get from Paris to Beaune. We recommend arriving at least one day prior to the start of our trip in the case of unforeseen circumstances or travel delays. For information on where to stay the night before, see the following Pre-Arrival Accommodations section.

Transfer from Paris to Beaune

Beaune is approximately 195 miles southeast of Paris. Traveling by train is quickest (2 hours, 9 minutes), with the first train leaving Paris at 6:23am, the last train at 7:23pm. There are an average of 30 trains a day between Paris and Beaune, leaving approximately every 18 minutes. Rail Europe provides many train options, and can be booked as soon as 90 to 120 days ahead of your arrival dates.

Contact us if you prefer to organize and purchase a private transfer, but note that the journey will be longer (3-4 hours, depending on time of day).

If you are staying at our trip hotel before the trip start and need transportation from the train station, we recommend booking a taxi through our hotel (see Accommodations) as soon as possible. Contact the hotel directly to arrange.

Pre-Arrival Accommodations

We stay in unique, in-demand hotels on this trip—rooms go fast and daily rates change frequently. If you plan to arrive in Beaune prior to the beginning of our journey, we recommend staying at Hôtel le Cep (see Our Accommodations), which is also our meeting spot on Day One. Please contact the hotel directly to book, and let them know you will be on a trip with Modern Adventure and would like to extend your stay prior to the trip start. We will try to avoid unnecessary room changes, allowing you to stay in the same room from start to finish—however, please note that this is not always an option and room types vary and are subject to change.

If you plan to stay in Paris prior to our trip start, we recommend Le Pont-Neuf and Hôtel Providence, two elegant and well-appointed options in the heart of Paris.

Departure from Beaune

Trip End

We end our trip—after a week of exploration, connection, and delicious food and wine!—in Beaune on Friday, June 17, 2022.

Departure Airport

We recommend booking your outbound flights from Paris' Charles de Gaulle (CDG), the same airport you arrived at.

Transfer to CDG Airport

On the final day of our trip, we will organize a group transfer from Beaune back to Paris. The specific time of this transfer will be determined after we've gathered all guests' flight times to ensure the best schedule for the group as a whole.

Post-Trip Accommodations

We hope you have the opportunity to extend your stay in Beaune. If so, we recommend staying at Hôtel Le Cep (see Our Accommodations). Please note that any post-trip accommodations are your responsibility to book, and reservations can be made by contacting the hotel directly.

If you plan to stay on in Paris at the end of our trip, see our Pre-Arrival Accommodation recommendations.
